The Pontiac Trans Am<\/em><\/strong> production began in 1969 and only a few hundred were sold that year.\u00a0As the years progressed, the muscle car era and the days of the high-horsepower engine\u00a0greatly digressed. Emission regulations, increase in oil prices, and increases in safety\u00a0policy brought this glorious era to its knees. During this time, the popularity of the Trans\u00a0Am steadily increased, thanks in-part to its relatively powerful engine, good handling, and\u00a0styling. In 1977, Burt Reynolds’ “Smokey and the Bandit”<\/strong> was released and the cars place in\u00a0history was secured.<\/p>\n

The 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am<\/em><\/strong> and 10th Anniversary Trans Am<\/em> received dramatic front-and-rear\u00a0facelifts. That included a no-grille appearance in an elongated nose, flanked by inset quad\u00a0rectangular headlamps. A urethane casting held the recessed head-lamps, with horizontal louvers\u00a0below. At the rear lurked a full-width taillamp, which seemed to disappear in daylight. Front\u00a0and rear spoilers were installed, and wider fender skirts could encompass fatter tires.<\/p>\n

Firebird<\/strong> Formulas carried Pontiac’s small-block, two-barrel 301-cid V-8, packing 140 horsepower;\u00a0Trans Ams used Oldsmobile’s 403<\/em>, rated at 185 bhp. Lower-rung Firebirds might have the Buick V-6,\u00a0a 150-bhp four-barrel 301 V-8, or Chevrolet-built 305.<\/p>\n

This 1979 Pontiac Firebird<\/em> Trans Am<\/strong> is finished in Solar Gold<\/strong>. It has the Iconic\u00a0Firebird<\/strong> hood decal, chrome exhaust splitters, and “snowflake”<\/strong> aluminium wheels in exceptional condition.\u00a0It is powered by a 403 cubic-inch Oldsmobile v8 producing 185 horsepower. The transmission is a\u00a0Three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic. This example comes equipped with Pwr. Steering, Pwr. Brakes,\u00a0and a working A\/C system<\/em><\/strong><\/em>! Other modifications include Exhaust Headers, Frame connectors and a Mild Cam!\u00a0The Dark Camel<\/em> with Hobnail<\/em> cloth interior is in great condition and shows extremely well.\u00a0Overall this is a solid example in great condition both mechanical and cosmetic!<\/p>\n
