{"id":6341,"date":"2010-11-22T18:20:40","date_gmt":"2010-11-22T18:20:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gentrylane.com\/s\/?p=6341"},"modified":"2010-11-22T18:20:40","modified_gmt":"2010-11-22T18:20:40","slug":"1970-plymouth-road-runner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gentrylane.ca\/s\/domestic-inventory\/sold-domestic\/1970-plymouth-road-runner","title":{"rendered":"1970 Plymouth Road Runner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The First Generation <strong>Road <em>Runner<\/em><\/strong><em><\/em> was a limited-production muscle car from <strong>Plymouth<\/strong>,\u00a0a division of the <em>Chrysler Corporation<\/em> and was built from 1968 through 1970.<\/p>\n<p>Paying $50,000 to Warner Brothers to use the name and likeness of their <strong>Road Runner<\/strong> cartoon\u00a0character (as well as a <em>&#8220;beep-beep&#8221;<\/em> horn), and using the <strong>Chrysler<\/strong> B platform as a base\u00a0(the same as the Belvedere, Satellite, and GTX), <strong>Plymouth<\/strong> set out to build a back-to-basics\u00a0muscle car. Everything essential to performance and handling was beefed-up and improved;\u00a0everything nonessential was left out.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Road Runner<\/strong> received fresh new front and rear styling for 1970. The <strong>&#8220;Six Pack&#8221;<\/strong> hood was\u00a0dropped, but all <strong>Road Runners<\/strong> were now available with an optional <strong>Air <em>Grabber<\/em> Hood<\/strong>. This consisted\u00a0of a under the dash switch which would open a power operated trap door on the hood, revealing\u00a0a shark cartoon with the words <strong>&#8220;Air Grabber.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High quality, Gorgeous restoration 1970 <strong>Plymouth <em>Road Runner<\/em><\/strong> 2 Door Hardtop.\u00a0Fitted to this car; a correct date coded <em>440 Six Pack<\/em> with <strong>Air Grabber Hood<\/strong>.\u00a0The transmission is the factory 727 <strong>Torqueflite<\/strong> 3 Speeed Automatic Column shift.
