There are those who claim that it was Oldsmobile<\/strong> that created the first muscle car when it stuffed its\u00a0hot new fullsize Rocket V8<\/em> into its midsize model to create the Olds 88<\/strong> and Super 88<\/strong> series back in 1949.\u00a0But it wasn’t until 1964 that Oldsmobile<\/strong> would return to the concept, encouraged by the success of the\u00a0Pontiac GTO<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Oldsmobile<\/strong> was the first GM division to follow Pontiac’s lead, and began to offer fullsize muscle in\u00a0its midsize Cutlass model. The package included the top engine available from Oldsmobile<\/strong>, a 330 cid V8\u00a0with the police package. It was named the 4-4-2 package<\/em>, originally signifying the engine’s 4 barrel\u00a0carb, 4 speed manual transmission, and dual (2) exhausts.<\/p>\n

For 1968 the car got a total restyle to the familiar rounded panels, as the 442<\/strong> became it’s own separate model.\u00a01969 saw a few slight cosmetic changes to the 442<\/strong>. The W30 400ci engine cranked out 360hp and had a reported\u00a0top speed of 122 mph. This car defines ’60’s American Muscle<\/strong> with it’s refined good looks, superior handling\u00a0(for it’s era) and brutish V-8 powered strength.<\/p>\n

Fitted to this car; a NUMBERS MATCHING<\/strong> 400 CI 325<\/em> HP V-8 engine.\u00a0The transmission is a factory 3-Speed automatic THM 400<\/strong>. The exterior has recently been\u00a0repainted in the original blue and received new black striping. Interior and top are\u00a0both black vinyl and remain in good overall condition. Factory options include Pwr. Steering<\/em>,\u00a0Pwr. Brakes<\/em>, Pwr. Windows<\/em>, Pwr. Top<\/em> and AM<\/em> Radio with Eight-track<\/em> player.\u00a0The engine compartment is highly detailed as is the rest of the vehicle. Solid example, runs and\u00a0drives like a real American Muscle<\/strong> Car should.<\/p>\n
