Bill Mitchell, GM&#8217;s new chief of design, had an incredibly successful\u00a0idea: Stingray! Tradition was broken as the totally redesigned Corvette was\u00a0offered as a coupe or a convertible with 4 engine choices. Both featured a\u00a0streamlined appearance and improved passenger accommodations. The American\u00a0public loved\u00a0<em>1963-1967 Stingrays<\/em> because they were fast machines that\u00a0looked\u00a0<em>supersonic<\/em> even when parked. They remain the most collectible\u00a0Corvettes today.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Sting Rays<\/em> were the automotive success story of the year. Chevrolet had to add\u00a0a second shift to its St. Louis, Missouri assembly plant to keep up with demand, and\u00a0dealers reported owners waiting months for their cars to be built. By the end of the\u00a0model year, Corvette production would surpass the 20,000-unit milestone.<\/p>\n<p>For 1966\u00a0<strong>Corvette<\/strong> made a few changes to the\u00a0<strong>Sting Rays<\/strong>. The 1966 Corvette featured a\u00a0new eggcrate grille and functional engine compartment cooling vents. In its place, a new muscle\u00a0Corvette was introduced, the\u00a0<em>&#8220;427&#8221;<\/em> with its own funnel-shaped, power bulge on the hood.<\/p>\n<p>Gorgeous Example\u00a0<em>1966 Corvette\u00a0<strong>Stingray<\/strong> Coupe<\/em>. Fitted to this car; a\u00a0<em>327 V8<\/em> with the optional Powerglide Automatic Transmission. The exterior is\u00a0<strong>Milano Maroon<\/strong> with a\u00a0<em>Black<\/em> vinyl interior showing very well. This vehicle is also\u00a0equipped with AM\/FM Radio and Air Conditioning. Vehicle runs and drives extremely well.\u00a0Very nice older restoration, thousands invested, car is solid throughout. This classic\u00a0<em>American\u00a0Coupe<\/em> is extremely solid and fun to drive.
