Bill Mithchell&nbsp;was the styling boss and the car became a success very fast! Customers could get&nbsp;the car as a <em>Roadster (convertible)<\/em>, and as a Coupe(hardtop), they sold 21,513 cars,&nbsp;and the convertible sold most of them! This car was a fantastic design success!<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Sting Rays<\/em> were the automotive success story of the year. <em>Chevrolet<\/em> had to add&nbsp;a second shift to its St. Louis, Missouri assembly plant to keep up with demand,&nbsp;and dealers reported owners waiting months for their cars to be built. By the end&nbsp;of the model year, Corvette production would surpass the 20,000-unit milestone.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Corvette<\/strong> received totally new styling for <em>&#8217;63<\/em>. The headlights were hidden in an&nbsp;electrically operated panel. This was more than a gimmick as it added to the cars&nbsp;aerodynamic design. Front fender louvers, vents on the roof side panels and ribbed&nbsp;rocker panel molding were styling features used on the sides of the new <em>Corvette<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Fitted to this car; a <strong><em>numbers matching<\/em><\/strong><em> <\/em> 327 cubic inch 300 horsepower V-8 <em>L75<\/em> engine.&nbsp;The transmission is the factory optional <em>2 speed automatic<\/em>. Other factory options&nbsp;include <em>pwr. steering<\/em> and <em>pwr. brakes<\/em>. The exterior is a tuxedo black  with a&nbsp;black interior, black soft-top and a black hardtop. This classic <em>American Roadster<\/em> is&nbsp;extremely solid and fun to drive. This car would be a great addition to any collection as&nbsp;it is one of the most collectable of all corvettes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The attached manufacturers plate reads as
