The DeSoto Adventurer<\/em><\/strong> is an automobile produced by the Chrysler Corporation and sold under its DeSoto<\/strong> automotive brand from 1956 through the 1960 model year. It was initially DeSoto’s<\/strong> special, limited-production, high-performance model, similar to the Chrysler 300.<\/p>\n

The 1956-1960 DeSoto Adventurer<\/em><\/strong> surprised critics. True story. Big-time automotive journalists in the late 1950s compare a flashy full-size coupe to Chrysler’s mighty 300-D and find it holds its own against the premier performance car of the day. They act as if this is a revelation. Their account in the June 1958 edition of Motor Trend begins: “Sneak treat of ’58 is DeSoto’s Adventurer<\/em><\/strong><\/em> series, a gutty hardtop and convertible duo for the fellow who wants something different.” Interestingly, the Adventurer was in its third model year. And previous versions had been even quicker.<\/p>\n

For its final year, the Adventurer<\/em> lost its convertible but gained a four-door hardtop and sedan. Instead of being a limited edition model, the Adventurer<\/em> was the top trim model range for the two series DeSoto<\/strong> line-up for 1960. Ram induction was reintroduced on models with the quad-four carburetor. This was also the only year that car came in variety of colors instead of its traditional white-black and gold combination. Total sales for the Adventurer<\/em> line posted its best effort with 11,597 models produced.<\/p>\n

Overall this classic Adventurer<\/strong> is in great condition, solid throughout. The interior shows extremely well, with all its chrome, and stunning two-tone vinyl and fabric upholstry. The white exterior stands out in gorgeous fashion with all its chrome, white wall tires and big rear fins. It would be hard to find another 4-Door Sedan<\/strong> in this condition.<\/p>\n
