Riding new 14 inch tires, the 1957 Chevrolet<\/strong><\/em><\/strong> stood 2.5 inches longer and 1.5 inches lower than the \u201856. Twin rocket shaped windsplits down the hood replaced the usual hood ornament. Modest but still sharp, fins brought up the rear – a mere hint of things to come. Bel Airs<\/strong> were available in seven models, trimmed with anodized aluminum panels on the rear body sides. In pastel shades, or ice cream colours. Body changes for the \u201857s<\/em> were more noticeable than the changes from \u201855 to \u201856. New front and rear styling was used including lower and flatter hood, two widely spaced hood rockets<\/em> and air intakes incorporated into the headlight bezels. The new rear end design included backup lights and taillights that blended into the rear bumper, a gas filler door hidden in the trim that ran from the bumper ends.<\/p>\n

Chevy touted it\u2019s \u201857 as Sweet, Smooth, and Sassy<\/strong><\/em><\/strong>! And indeed, the new styling was sweet, the finest of the 1955-57 classic Chevys<\/strong>; the new Turboglide transmission was as smooth as velvet underpants; and the new fuel-injected 283 V8 was very sassy. It’s seem ironic that in 1957, Chevrolet, now advertising #1 USA, was out sold for the first time by Ford. It would be years before the 1957 Chevrolet<\/strong> was appreciated for the classic it has become today.<\/p>\n

This Gorgeous example comes equiped with a 283 cubic inch V-8 Engine<\/em><\/strong><\/em>. The exterior is a Colonial Cream<\/em> and India Ivory<\/em>, the interior is a beautiful combination of Black and Cream. The interior is in excellent shape. This ’57 Bel Air<\/strong> came with such extras as Recirculating Heater, Powerglide tranny, Push button Radio, White Walls and Power Steering. This car is a true refelection of the transitional styling of the mid 50’s. Generations have enjoyed the \u201857 Chevy, and will continue to appreciate them. I can\u2019t tell you how many times people will look at the car and say My dad used to have one just like this<\/em>.<\/p>\n
