{"id":2632,"date":"2010-08-31T15:02:12","date_gmt":"2010-08-31T15:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/glwptest.comeze.com\/?p=2632"},"modified":"2010-08-31T15:02:12","modified_gmt":"2010-08-31T15:02:12","slug":"1960-austin-healey-3000-mk-i","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gentrylane.ca\/s\/import-inventory\/sold-import\/1960-austin-healey-3000-mk-i","title":{"rendered":"1960 Austin Healey 3000 MK I"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Donald Healey<\/em> ran a small works company, producing only a small number of cars.\u00a0Healey showed a car at the Earls Court motor show in 1952 called the 100.\u00a0On seeing the general publics enthusiasm for the car, Austin thought fit to produce\u00a0the car at Longbridge. This car later went on to be known as the <strong>Austin-Healey<\/strong> 100.<\/p>\n<p>A more powerful version of the car was launched in 1959, the <strong><em>Austin-Healey 3000<\/em><\/strong><em><\/em>.\u00a0Although <em>Austin-Healeys<\/em> were built in Great Britain, they were designed to appeal\u00a0to Americans-in fact, <em>Austin-Healey<\/em> exported 89 percent of their cars to the\u00a0United States. Among these automobiles, the 100 and 3000 Series or <strong>&#8220;Big Healeys&#8221; <\/strong>produced from 1953 through 1968 were the fastest and most glamorous.<\/p>\n<p>The famous <em>Austin Healey<\/em> <strong>3000<\/strong> was produced from 1959-1968.\u00a0This perticular model is fitted with a 2,912 c.c. engine, with two horizontal SU\u00a0carburettors giving an impressive 124 HP @ 4,600 rpm. To complement this, the\u00a0transmission is a manual 4-speed with O\/D.<\/p>\n<p>As you can see from the photo&#8217;s below, this two-tone <em>&#8220;Big Healy&#8221;<\/em> looks great. A frame on restoration was completed a few years back, both mechanically &amp; aesthetically.\u00a0The exterior is a two tone blue fitted with <em>&#8220;knock-off&#8221;<\/em> wire wheels and to complement\u00a0a beautiful dark blue interior. This <em>Big Healey<\/em> has the butch character, makes all the\u00a0right noises when pressed hard, and has the rugged dependability which sports car\u00a0enthusiasts enjoy.
