The Porsche 356<\/em><\/strong>, introduced in 1950, put this renowned German automaker on the sports-car map. But even though the 356<\/strong> was the first Porsche<\/strong> sports car, it was far from the first sporting Porsche<\/strong>. The Porsche 356<\/em><\/strong> was the first volume-production Porsche. This first-generation of Porsche’s<\/strong> classic rear-engine sports-car design went on sale in 1950 and continued through 1955.<\/p>\n

Cabriolets were offered from the start, aA standout amongst the most attractive authority models is the 356 “Speedster,” presented in late 1954 after Max Hoffman, the sole US merchant of Porsches, prompted the organization that a lower-cost, open-top rendition could sell well in the American market. With its low, raked windshield (which could be expelled for end of the week dashing), basin seats and negligible collapsing top, the Speedster was a moment hit, particularly in Southern California.<\/p>\n
