{"id":1674,"date":"2010-08-17T18:31:49","date_gmt":"2010-08-17T18:31:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/glwptest.comeze.com\/?p=1674"},"modified":"2010-08-24T19:28:20","modified_gmt":"2010-08-24T19:28:20","slug":"1951-matchless-g3l-350cc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gentrylane.ca\/s\/motorcycles\/sold-motorcycles\/1951-matchless-g3l-350cc","title":{"rendered":"1951 Matchless G3L 350cc"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first <strong>Matchless<\/strong> motorcycle was made in 1899 and, with a commercial manufacturing history dating from 1901, <strong>Matchless<\/strong> is one of the senior marques of the late <em>British <strong>motorcycle<\/strong> industry<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matchless<\/strong> produced a wide range of motorcycles to suit all purposes and pockets; their most famous machines being the <em>Silver Arrow<\/em> and <em>Silver Hawk<\/em> multi-cylinder bikes of the 1930s. Their wartime<strong> G3L<\/strong> was not only one of the most popular <strong>British<\/strong> service machines of the <em>Second World War<\/em>, but the first to feature telescopic front forks.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>G3L<\/strong> has a higher compression engine giving a modest power gain to <em>18 HP<\/em>, sufficient to propel the bike up to a quoted top speed of <em>100 km\/h<\/em>. It&#8217;s still no road burner, but very delightful to ride.<\/p>\n<p>Black 1951 <strong>Matchless<\/strong> G3L 350cc <em>Vintage Motorcycle<\/em>.<br \/>\nThis motorcycle came from a <em>Private Estate Sale<\/em> and has been fully restored over the years. This is a great collector <strong>Motorcycle<\/strong> in exceptional <em>condition<\/em>. The engine is a single cylinder<strong> 350cc<\/strong> with a 4 speed transmission. Bike runs and rides very well. An extremely rare and correct<em> Motorcycle<\/em> from <strong>Matchless<\/strong> London.
